Introduction:

For as long as I can remember, I have studied people, and I find us to be both fascinating and perplexing. So, “falling into” my career in Talent Acquisition and HR felt like dumb luck. Thankfully, I had Dale Carnegie’s “ancient wisdom” in my pocket, which I discovered to be timeless, intuitive, and effective in helping me do exactly what he promised: win friends, and influence people. 

It was through the practical application of HTWFAIP that I learned to be adept at navigating complex, high-performing, and *occasionally* political environments.
What Would Dale Do? Is my take on applying his methods (and other’s) for people-puzzle problem-solving to shorten the learning curve for you.

About the author:

What Would Dale Do? was written by Bryce Rattner Keithley, a Talent and People leader in the tech industry. Bryce’s experience is broad and unique: she studied Political Science and Applied Statistics at WashU, started her career conducing advanced analytics in Decision Science, then, following an unceremonial layoff, landed a job in gym sales during the Great Recession. It was that job (and serendipity) that led to her entry into recruiting, and her introduction to Dale Carnegie. In the years that followed, Bryce progressed in her field: first, in Executive Search, then into elite technical recruiting. She was the first Head of Recruiting at Nextdoor, and spent many years in a range of Talent leadership roles at Block (fka Square).

Today, in partnership with Isabel Cohen Haque, she runs Great Team Partners, a bespoke Talent Advisory that partners with early-stage founders in pursuing their visions, by being their partner in building great teams.

She likes to say that her reputation is based off of: a generalist foundation and strong fundamentals; developing efficient, and high-signal recruiting capabilities within growing organizations; hiring, training, and mentoring exceptional leaders; interrupting false binaries; finding opportunity in challenge; using analogies excessively; and serving as a strategic partner to the businesses and teams she supports.
